Legal Experience and Versatility
The State Bar of California allows criminal lawyers who believe themselves to be extraordinary lawyers, apply to be Criminal Law Specialists. The process is rigorous and daunting and only a very small percentage of applicants succeed. Those who do are authorized to become Certified Specialist in Criminal Law. Here at San Jose, we have a California State Bar Criminal Law Specialist who has proven his qualifications to the State Bar. We are skilled with experience and knowledge in handling misdemeanor and felony cases in both State and Federal court.
Jonathan Reza
Jonathan began his legal education at the distinguished Hastings College of the Law, where he was honored as Best Oral Advocate in the Moot Court competition. He then transferred to the prestigious University of California, Irvine School of Law, where he pursued advanced coursework in criminal law and criminal procedure. At UCI, Jonathan gained practical experience through internships and externships with the Orange County Public Defender's Office. There, he engaged deeply with the criminal justice system, notably assisting indigent clients with expunging their criminal records through the New Leaf Program.
By his third year, Jonathan was working alongside a Certified Criminal Law Specialist, participating in the defense of clients facing charges from petty theft to capital murder. This experience provided him with invaluable insights as he collaborated closely with defense teams throughout all stages of these complex cases. After law school, Jonathan worked full-time as a paralegal while preparing for the bar exam on his own.
Upon passing the California State Bar, Jonathan joined the renowned Aspen Law Group, a leading DUI defense firm with a statewide reach. Handling cases from Contra Costa County to San Diego, Jonathan honed his skills and eventually decided to strike out on his own. Over the years, he has managed hundreds of cases, achieving successful outcomes for clients across a broad spectrum of issues. His extensive trial experience includes defending serious felonies and minor infractions, often securing favorable results in challenging situations. Jonathan has even succeeded at the Court of Appeal and has pressed forward both in filing appeals and writs. He will do whatever it takes to vindicate his client’s rights.
Now a dedicated member of the California Criminal Law Group, Jonathan is committed to providing both serious and compassionate legal defense, enhancing access to justice in Orange County.
